Entrepreneurs’ Brains Are Wired Differently
Entrepreneurs’ brains are wired differently.
For us, the “new” is exciting, full of mystery, tantalizing. It’s addicting.
This is because we have active dopamine systems. Dopamine, a chemical in our brain, is released every time we find something new and exciting.
Our brains are wired for it.
This drive isn’t all bad — it’s what got us started as entrepreneurs in the first place. If it weren’t for the drive for “new”, we’d be stuck at our old job, miserable and hopeless.
But, there comes the point at which always looking for the newest and best can actually PREVENT us from growing.
When we get stuck, instead of looking at what we already got, we look around for what we can try next.
It keeps us stuck in a vicious cycle — jumping from one new thing to the next.
Very often, it might be something really small that you are missing that prevent you from making the next big leap in your business.
So next time you find yourself in such a situation, stop for a moment, analyze what is going on in your business and try to improve on what you’ve already had instead of pushing the next crazy idea you woke up with that morning.
